Demonstrative Pronouns
Used to indicate which specific noun is being referred to and distinguish it from others. For example: this, that, these, those, none, neither. Context is required to be understood. Some may also be used as adjectives when placed right before a noun. (Also called determiners, qualifiers, demonstrative determiners, demonstrative adjectives, determinative demonstratives, adjectival demonstratives, adjectival demonstratives pronouns.) For example, this book vs. I want this.
Relative Pronouns
Start relative clauses. Relative clauses are noun clauses that modify nouns. The relative pronoun plays the role of the noun in the clause and refers back to a noun in the sentence. For example, who, whom, which, that. The woman who lives here is on vacation.
Interrogative Pronouns
Relative pronouns that start a question. For example, who, whom, whose.
Indefinite Pronouns
Used to refer to non-specific nouns. Do not require context to be understood. For example, anyone, something, nobody, everyone. Some may also be distributive pronouns.
Reciprocal Pronouns
Refer to a plural noun in the same sentence and indicate a shared relationship. For example, each other, one another. Requires the sentence be constructed to be understood.
Personal Pronouns
Refer to people. May be in the subject (I) or object (me) case, be possessive: dependent (my), be possessive: independent (mine), or be reflexive (myself). Reflexive pronouns (are used to show the person or thing that performs the actions also receives the action. Reflexive pronouns are also called intensive pronouns.) Subject case performs the actions (I, we, you, he, she, it , they). Object cases receive the action (me, us, you, him, her, it, them). Personal pronouns are also grouped by person. First person is the speaker (I, we, me, us). Second person is a person being spoken to (you). Third person is a person or thing elsewhere (he, she, they, him her, them, it).
